About
Lister is a Windows program that will scan your cluttered collection of media files and create an orderly list of your media, sorted by artist & album, in XML format. What's so great about that, you ask? With the generated XML file and an XSL processor you can create almost any kind of list you want.
Lister currently understands the following file formats:
- mp3, mp2 (common extensions: .mp3, .mp2)
- MPEG (common extensions: .mpg, .mpeg, .mpe)
- AVI (common extension: .avi)
- Ogg Vorbis (common extension: .ogg)
- RealAudio, RealVideo (common extensions: .ra, .rm)
- Microsoft Advanced Streaming Format (common extension: .asf)
- Microsoft Windows Media Audio (common extension: .wma)
- Microsoft Windows Media Video (common extension: .wmv)
- Twin-VQ (common extension: .vqf)
- Playlist files (common extensions: .pls, .b4s, m3u)
An example (note that all the links in the example HTML files do not work and are intended for illustrative purposes only):
- XML - the Lister generated file
- color HTML - transformed into a colorful web page (using this XSL file)
- simple HTML - the same XML file transformed into a simple web page (using this XSL file)
- list HTML - the same XML file transformed into a web page with one long list of songs (using this XSL file)
